The Best White Elephant Gift EVER!

48 boxes of tissues (don't mind the prescription drug advertising) from my Pharmaceutical Sales Rep friend that claims she's up to her eyeballs with these! I'm thinking 5 yr supply at least!!!

Taking the Trash Out

Warning – if you’ve never watched the HBO show “Extras”, then this may not be as humorous to you.

So I’m sitting in my cube here at work and a co-worker around the corner is laughing his butt off over something or other. This constant laughing sparked a camping memory from this past weekend that got me chuckling:

Night 1 – The men walked the trash down to the dumpster. All food items were stored in the car. The raccoons were just some random scurrying noises but of no consequence to us.

Night 2 – The men opted to use the 6 ft + “trash poles” to hang the bags from…proclaiming that there was no way the raccoons could scale those heights. Goodness only knows how much later we heard the trash falling from the bag. So up Ron and I get for clean-up and re-bag. We contemplated making the dreaded walk to the dumpster but it seemed so daunting in the middle of the night. I then offered my SUV as a sacrifice to save us the walk but Ron spotted an EVEN TALLER trash pole on our campsite that we hadn’t yet used. This time he proclaimed “more power to them if they can get to the trash this time!”. Back into the tent we go. ROUND TWO – trash is falling to the ground again and out Ron goes. Feeling justified (since I had offered up my SUV for storage and all) – I stayed snug in my sleeping bag. This time Ron does opt to place the bag in the SUV and as he’s crawling back into his sleeping bag – I utter in my best English accent “Are they having a laugh? Are the having a laugh!?!?”.

Tim S.

Today is a tough day at my work. I have the unfortunate new experience of the sudden and tragic loss of a co-worker that I really liked and enjoyed working with. While this is not the first co-worker that has passed, I can say it is the first one that truly shook my very core. Tim’s office was the first one I saw when I came in the back door – so he was also the first face I saw and waved to each morning. He was always energetic and ready to face each and every day. He gave me a “hard time” on more than a few occasions about me not being as much of a morning person and I appreciated his attempts to “kick-start” my day. Because of his solid and practical approach to work (and from what I could observe – life in general), it was not uncommon for me to seek him out for advice or feedback. He was funny and kind and positive and smart and will be missed tremendously.
