Taking Me Back
Interesting article but I have some points where I disagree. Breakfast Club - I could never get past "Allison's makeover" even back then! I mean - THE DANDRUFF?!? Come on! And since I did actually just recently watch it..the scene where Emilio Estevez is dancing JUST LIKE any given Kevin Bacon Scene from "Footloose" was almost too much to bear. Sixteen Candles - Don't be like that and try to diminish my perception/hope. My only "concern" was when they were kissing over the FULLY candlelit cake. OUCH!

How Did I Not Catch This?
Approximately one week ago I opened a “problem ticket” with our facilities department. The area that I sit in has been consistently musty and humid in ways that an office should not be. I’m thinking mold has to be a big risk at this point. Anyway, I called yesterday to follow-up on the status since I had heard back nothing (shocker!). The lady that I logged the call with told me she would cc me on an email she was sending to her facilities contact. Believe it or not, it took a co-worker to point out the hilarity of the email subject line. It read “Smell & Moisture Problem – Edie Averette”. LMAO!!! Honest to goodness if I didn’t know that this lady was the most innocent natured person I may know (she sang “Amazing Grace” at a recent work function!) – I might suspect she was having a little fun at my expense.

Beginners Luck

Okay, so the picture is a "spoiler" but here's my story nonetheless...I had my first "official" gambling adventure this past Friday at the Hard Rock Seminole Casino in Tampa. I went in with the knowledge that I'd LOSE no more than $40. Right out of the gate I won $20. So I hit my "cash out" button and discovered the process of the "little paper ticket" (who knew? I naively envisioned coins flying out at me I guess). We began floating from one slot machine to the other. We looked for machines that "spoke to us". Early in the adventure - I spotted a slot called "One Bad Apple" that I had my eye on. Unfortunately they must have been a gambler favorite - always in use. I played my ticket at several other slots and had the goal to never get below $20. At least I'd break even if nothing else. We rounded a corner and a "One Bad Apple" had freed up! My friend had lost $40 by this time and was "done!". I inserted my ticket and watched my balance slowly dwindle to $21 - one dollar from my cut-off. I actually came very close to not trying what I knew would be my last bet. I even verbalized this to my friend. Well, you know the rest but WOW! I couldn't help but wonder if perhaps the casino's have some technology that detects newbies like me - knowing that a win like this will surely leave me wanting more! You'll be happy to know that I did quit while I was ahead. Until next time...

Parting Gift

A co-worker/friend of mine for the last 11 years is leaving MVCI. I'm sad for my loss but excited for his new career opportunity. He's only got one more week to go and today he surprised me with the knowledge that he had left a gift in my cube (but didn't tell me what). I "carefully" scanned my cube to no avail. FINALLY something out of place caught my eye! It was the thing that I have probably mooched NO LESS THAN $50.00 from over the years. Years of snacks and drinks (hey - I gotta live up to my highschool yearbook quote "Edye will probably STILL not have a car and STILL not have lunch money"). Thanks Travis! It'll be empty (never to be refilled) by the time you leave.

Like Mother Like Daughter

This picture of Ansley next to a boy from her class is giving me flashbacks of a 7th Grade Winfield Middle School Dance where I was 5'9" (one inch shy of my current height) and the only boy that asked me to dance (Mike something??) was about as proportionate to me as this little cutie is to Ansley. :)

Last nights dream...

Okay - I promise not to bore you with too many of these but last nights dream was so very weird. I was sitting at a bar in some nice restaurant. Alone. I couldn't get the theme from the 80's show "The Love Boat" out of my head so I started singing it out loud. Then I looked up and there was Arnold Schwarzenegger on the other side of the bar smiling back at me - obviously impressed by my knowledge of the lyrics. So I made a point to say "you remember this song don't you??" and I continued to sing out the rest of the song to best of my abilities. Once I was finished, I exclaimed "And I absolutely loved that show that came on after it - FANTASY ISLAND!!". At first I was also trying to remember the theme song but could not. At that point I told him I would simply do my Ricardo Montalban impression. I stood up and put on my best Ricardo accent and proceeded with "WELCOME...To Fantasy Island". It's like I absolutely nailed my delivery in my dream! I was so impressed with myself. LOL!!
What does it all mean?? ;)
